With this tutorial how would i remove the black for printing on a black background and what would happen to a convert to CMYK

Very cool effect. I followed your setup multiple times, and it doesn't seem to want to displace correctly. Instead of getting a nice wave. The entire line just moves up vertically. I've tried with other files as the displace file with the same outcome. Any ideas what might be going on?

You always blow my ming with this tutorials. I use photoshop for 22 years. For the last 14 I use it professionally almost every day, keep up with all the updates, and I would never come up with something like this. Generating a 1 pixel height psd for the depth map in an automation is something I would have never dreamt of.

Just understanding the green/red color ramp has been amazingly helpful. this tutorial really helped me push a motion graphic i've needed to make.

Can someone help me? I'm new on photoshop and i make things just for fun, i tried this effect but when i go to save, the effect looks black and white and not colorized like in the photoshop screen, how can i fix it?

This is a really cool technique and method. I'm trying to implement it but the action just isn't rendering properly against the depth map. The depth map isn't rendering properly based on the imaged i'm pumping into it either which doesn't help. eg. Pitch black spots in my starting image ought to render as white in the filtered result, but aren't. Does the file resolution play a huge part in the amplitude of the wave forms? I work in print, so all my documents are set to 300 dpi, not 72 as you're tutorial suggests. Is there a different value i should be setting for displacement etc? Trying to figure it out on my own but nothing seems to be changing the final result, weirdly.

my displace filter isnt doing the zig zag line thats showing on yours, it still has the straight line, i am not sure what i am doing wrong
